Insurance is still a monopoly one year after the announcement to end the monopoly. I am 68 yrs old. Pay the INS premium every 6 month approx.$650. Everytime I have to pay the full amount on doctors, laboratories, drug stores then to lodge the claim for these expenses at the INS San Jose office, then wait for 3 weeks to be refunded 70 percent. Now I am leaving the country in a month for good and never get back the last claim amount. The health care in Costa Rica is VERY BAD.
